On 22 May, 2010 Akhmeta will host an interesting event: municipality of the town organizes “cheese festival”. There are many different kinds of events planned during the festival. 
     The event will be opened at 12 pm in the town centre. Guests will have opportunity to acquaint themselves with Tusheti life-style. They will be shown process of shaving sheep, scotching and spinning of wool, weaving and also some different Georgian folk traditions. The town centre will host exhibition of items of ethnographic museum, collections of private collectors – Georgian national dresses and folk music instruments. Guests of the event will have opportunity to see process of weaving of Georgian handicrafts – tapestry, carpets, bags and socks. They will be able to purchase different traditional things produced in the region. 
     The festival will also host different Georgian sport competitions like horse racing, archery and wrestling. In front of the building of city hall there will be wide variety of Tusheti cheese presented. Everyone will have opportunity to taste and buy it. Guests of the event will be invited to specially set up huts and offered Kakhetian wine, bread, Mtsvadi, Khinkali and vodka. 
     Among festival participants will be the owners of guesthouses in Akhmeta region and Georgian tour-operators.
