The Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development announces a contest on the following topic: “The short and Long-term strategy of development of Tourism and Corresponding Infrastructure.” The Minister of Economic and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia made an announcement today.
She said that the Ministry is starting a new stage for the development of tourism. “It is new because we have to set a new vision concerning this economic sector. Our objective is to make Georgia one of the leading countries on the tourism market; our country definitely has potential. That is why we are announcing a contest that will reveal the best project for the short and long term development of tourism and the corresponding infrastructure. This is the first time the government announces such contest. The winner of the contest will automatically become the head of the Department of Tourism and Resorts” – said Kobalia.
The Minister stressed out that the winner won’t be announced according to previous practices especially based on family relations. Every interested person living in Georgia and abroad will have the opportunity to participate.
“This will be a great opportunity for the people employed in tourism to show their abilities, experience and professionalism. The contest will be as transparent as possible in order to avoid suspicions concerning the winner. That is why I shall direct the contest committee myself. In case if this project is successful we would consider implementing this practice in investing foreign investments. After signing the contract the ministry and I will supervise the execution of the project” – said the Minister.
